Ah, There are three kinds of averages -- mean, mode, median.

Median is the number in the middle of a list arranged by magnitude.
Mode is the value that occurs most often in the list.
Mean is the total of the values in the list divided by the number of entries in the list,

50% is always be either above or below the median.
