Thanks for all the replies to date. Both Cymro and guymonmd linked to David Woodhead's website and the photo below. David's a good buddy so I emailed him and he's quite in agreement with your observations James. The locomotive in the photo matches in almost all respects to the Hoosac Tunnel & Wilmington's #3. He particularly pointed out the unique tool box and distinctive circle between the tender truck journal boxes - I've highlighted these in the attached pics. He did rule out BRB&L primarily on the basis of driver wheelbase and that funky combine. Between that and the water syphon, the HT&W seems the preferred candidate for the photo. Probably the only definitive answer would be for someone with the original print to look and see if there is any caption description on the back, as well as to identify that unique combine. The HT&W had a couple combines seen in internet photos that are close, but not an exact match.
