I certainly wish Kristi all the best in her retirement! But I’m also sorry to know she will be leaving the D&S!
Kristi is one of the most delightful ladies I’ve ever met, and never was a person more qualified for the kind of position she holds! She introduced herself to me when I was wanting to buy a ticket for one of the functions of Railfest last August. Instead of just telling me how to do that, she personally escorted me to the proper depot window, cheerfully visiting with me all the time, and continuing to make me feel “very important” as my ticket was being processed. When I asked her about Charlie Bradshaw, she took me out to the little “Bradshaw Park” in front of the depot, filling me in on his present status and telling me about the dedication of that area as she led me to the bronze plaque commemorating him and his work to preserve the D&S. Every time I saw her during the next few days, she stood out as the gracious lady she is, always smiling, greeting the people, and very obviously excited about her work and the treasure that’s the D&S.
She’s quoted in the Durango Herald story as feeling “as though I’ve left an imprint on a piece of history.” Be very assured, Kristi, that you’ve definitely done that! Best wishes to you in every way in your retirement, and perhaps we’ll have the pleasure of seeing you now and then if you come back to visit the D&S.
