Having hiked the majority of logging grades in the Sacramento Mountains 35 years ago when in grad school I can say there is no intact logging locomotive in the woods. However, there are random locomotive parts you can find along the grades. The largest remains of a locomotive is the site of a Southwest Lumber Company Heisler that ran away on a switchback and tumbled down the mountain. At the site are bits & pieces of the locomotive including a running board and parts of piping. To get the wreck back to the shops in Marcia, a recovery track was built and the locomotive was brought down to an sawmill site in Wills Canyon where the cab was removed and still rests in the weeds to this day...
