Since 2016, I have been staying in Alamosa. I drew the line on the Narrow Gauge Inn when I stayed there for the Friends Flanger Trip in March of that year and had to hold a flashlight in my teeth to use the bathroom. Hopefully, the new management has put a few bucks into each room, but for now, I am done with that place.
Yeah, there is a drive from Alamosa, but it's an easy drive, and I don't speed. I save more time (and money) than that by cooking my own breakfast and dinner in my room in Alamosa, because I have a microwave and a fridge, none of which exists at any hotel in Antonito. I also don't need to go to a lobby to use Wi-Fi like I did in Antonito. If I run short of something, Safeway is a few blocks away and Subway is right around the corner. I'm not into indoor camping, which is what the NG Inn was all about. It sure would be nice if there was a REAL hotel on the east end, but I don't think I will live long enough to see that happen.
