The Narrow Gauge Railroad Inn in Antonito is, in fact, the best option in the area unless you like to drive. The place has been under new management since a little over a year ago. They spend about 30 minutes cleaning each room and take the COVID situation seriously. The wi-fi could be better but the place is clean, convenient and reasonably priced. I stayed at the Steam Train Hotel a little over a year ago. They allowed their dogs free-range upstairs in the hall between the rooms. They allowed smoking pot in the rooms and charged $120/night. Their pot shop across the street is now closed but I doubt the rooms have improved. There are three options for eating in Antonito: 1- The Dutch Mill. As of now, you can dine in, take out or eat on the sidewalk tables. They open about 0630 for coffee and are ready for breakfast by 0700. Good food, good service, varied menu and reasonably priced. 2- Dos Hermanos. They don't do breakfast. For lunch and dinner you can dine in, take it to go or eat on the sidewalk tables. Good food, good service, varied menu and costs a little more than The Dutch. 3- Hometown Market (grocery store). Open about 0630 and the deli has been having coffee ready by 0645 and breakfast burritos, muffins and biscuits ready around 0700. Mon, Wed & Fri they have biscuits and gravy. By 1000, they will have chicken strips, wraps and wings ready. You can buy a pre-prepared pizza (kinda like Papa whatevers) and they will bake it for you in about 10 mins. Eat it wherever you want but not in the grocery store. Lodging and food options are much more varied in Alamosa but is that the reason you are coming to Antonito?
