Here's a photo from the south side of the largest bridge pier and approach pier on the east side:

It's interesting that the lower half is stone and then the upper half is cement. It looks like the railroad changed bridge designs but re-used the original pier. Possibly there was a wooden trestle originally and then was changed out to a steel bridge. This would make an interesting bridge to model.

Also, local rock climbers have now found the pier and apparently are using it for practice. When I left there was one climber walking down the right of way towards the bridge and another parking his car off the highway. Safety ropes are visible in the photo.

Interesting that the construction crews used the natural cliff of lava rock to form the western approach of the bridge.
The four smaller concrete foundations look like they were constructed to support trestle bents.
