ET&WNC 4-6-0 #12 - Preservation Modifications?

July 04, 2020 01:21PM
Hello all,

I'm about to start construction of my HOn3 scratch-built model of the ET&WNC 4-6-0, which will be for a fictitious railroad serving a summer camp. As I want to include some of them in the model, can I ask what kind of modifications #12 has received since it was preserved in the 1950's?

Looking at photos of it at Blowing Rock, NC, the tender does not look original, it seems to be shorter, with a different body, and is now running on Vulcan trucks, not the original arch-bar type it used before preservation? The stack also appears shorter, but in the same style as the original, and one cab window on each side has been plated over?

Also, is Johnny Graybeal a member of this forum, as I have been trying to get in touch with him recently regarding his Along The ET&WNC book series, especially Volume 2: The Ten-Wheelers which I would like to purchase a copy of, as well as to swap notes with him about the project?

Many thanks,

Chris
