Since the Japanese railways were 42" gauge, I am wondering if anyone out there reads Japanese or knows about a book of wonderful pen and ink drawings by an artist who signs some of his paintings as R. Tomita. I was recently given a collection of foreign railway books which included four books almost entirely in Japanese. I'm attaching a photo of the book cover and two of the paintings from the book. Most are black and white with some black and gray wash but there are a few pen and ink with water color in the book as well. If anyone can supply me with the book title, publisher and if possible some info about the artist, I would be grateful. His work is superb and has many human interest drawings. A number of the drawings are reproduced as full two page spreads. I'm impressed by his work.
