Built by Globe (Souther) in 1849 became Sacramento Valley #4 "C. E. Garrison in 1855 in 1855, Rebuilt in 1869 as Second #1 and named "Pioneer.". Believed to be first steam locomotive in the West. More information in the attachment.

The following is a scan from the The Compendium Companion -- Additions to the SP Steam Locomotive Compendium published by Diebert & Strapac , 1987.
This additions, etc. is dated November 2017. The updated Sacramento Valley Railroad roster information reproduced from Wendell Huffman's thorough research into the locomotives of the Sacramento Valley Railroad.
