The dining car was between Edmonton and Calgary. I think a restored depot and two or three passenger cars.
I think this was back in the 1980s. It was a motor coach tour from Edmonton to Calgary -- an extra tour post -convention tour after the annual Association or Railway Museums conference held in Edmonton that year.
I am trying to remember more about the trip. We saw the big auto collection storage building and the small restoration shop at someplace much of the collection came from a auto junk yard on a nearby hill where the owner did not scrape the interesting arrivals -- this might have been a early stage of the Reynolds-Alberta Museum. We were at Dumheiller and I guess the dinosaur museum. Drumheller may have been the overnight stop.
In Calgary we toured the light-rail shop. During the conference in Edmonton we had a field trip to the Edmonton light rail shop. The light rail in Edmonton had acquired the ex-British Columbia / Oregon Electric electric freight motor and was using it to haul the earth being removed for the underground extension through downtown Edmonton,
