Here's a photo of the pulley again and another photo of one of them in use on the MSP in 1923:
The MSP used a high lead system called North Bend. The lower pulley is the same general type.
Here's what the North Bend system looked like:
After hiking to the end of this spur, I retraced my steps and headed west on the "mainline".
At this point the grade crossed a small creek with a box culvert and began a turn towards the north. The culvert had been blocked at some point in the past so the creek cut through the grade.
Immediately after the creek the grade went through this small cut:
We are now headed generally north.
