tgbcvr- thank you for the favorable comment on the first photo of my post above. Unfortunately this morning I was in a rush to get going on our hike to Bullion King Lake (above Red Mountain Pass - lots of snow at 12,500 feet, and flowers coming out in open meadows), and I didn't check the photo for white spots. So I am re-posting this picture after a bit of spot removal.
And while we have 4-6-4 2816 in our sights, here are a few extra scenes from that Vancouver to Calgary chase at Morant's curve east of Lake Louise
The train rolling along at speed near Canmore - without the diesel (most later excursions ran without diesel assist, resulting in some epic slogs for the high drivered 4-6-4 such as the tough climb over Crowsnest Pass unassisted)
