D&RG locomotives 1881 and prior all seem to have been named, with place names being prominent. Aka 406/346 named “Cumbres”. Found this complete list here, with this section detailing the very earliest engines. [
www.drgw.net]. I see little D&RG Mogul #5 was named “Ouray”. The names represent an interesting geography lesson, although with some of them being people, I wonder if “Ouray” was more in honour of the town or its namesake Chief Ouray.
