I remember an uproar over the NG using the ex army #50 when it showed up in the 50's. Luckily it went away. I think the younger generation is less likely to care cause they have no fond memories of Colorado Narrow Gauge steam in the 40's through the 2000's. I understand why they are getting diesels, due to public pressure, to have back-ups, and in some cases maybe to preserve the steam they have. I am not a fan of diesels on the Colorado NG lines in any fashion, but then I don't have a stake in the operations, so who am I to tell them what to do. I can just lament seeing the last bastions of steam in the U.S. give way to some new diesels. It reminds me a lot of the 1950's when I was a kid seeing steam going away and new diesels everywhere! I know its not the same but seeing them is never a happy time for me anyway! Best of luck to C&TS and D&S during these rough times.
