Surviving Stations on the Southern Railway's Claremont Branch

May 27, 2020 12:23PM
Hi all,

I was wondering if anybody knew which stations on the Southern's Claremont Branch are still in existence. I would look on google maps but unfortunately the street view option isn't applicable in specific towns along the route due to their relatively small size. The stations I'm 99% sure still exist are the ones in Claremont, Homeville, and Lumberton although I have heard rumors that the station in Grizzard exists as well. I would go down there to look for myself but because of this virus I think I'm just going to stay put.

Also, does anyone know what the line was called by the Atlantic & Danville Railway management before 1899? I'm pretty sure it originally was known as the James River Division and later became the Claremont Branch of the Southern Railway although I could be wrong.

Thanks

Nick
