Here is a rough map to help get everyone orientated to the hopeful future track plan for the Como Project.
The track that will be going in this year can be seen as the RED line in the top left. This is the line that would go to Boreas Pass and Leadville. In the distant future, the plan is to build a restoration facility on the far end of the property so we can do all the dirty, messy work and store our "Future Projects" up there away from the historical part of the yard and keep the roundhouse area for operations and displays of completed restorations. Or thats the plan anyway.
The BLUE line north of the depot is the mainline to Denver. It is still our goal to build out to the wye but we will need an agreement in place with the county before be can build past the bridge site.
Again, we are NOT building a tourist railway. We already have a perfectly good one just over the hill in Georgetown. We are building a museum dedicated to the DSP&P/DL&G and the Colorado & Southern RR. Part of the museum will include and operational element much the same as the Colorado RR Museum does today. The reason we are aiming for the King Branch wye is so we can possibly draw people off of Hwy 285 and bring them into Como. Of course, we still have a long ways to go first with other agreements and obstacles that still need to be addressed. So this plan remains "flexible".
