Right about the ashpan hanging down on the class 56; the staybolts were what caught my eye. As for the modified models/assets...I recall making some video game models myself that way years back for other games. Graphic engines can be fickle beasts. I've seen game engines that had fixed requirements for poly counts/vertices/etc so making new models by modifying old ones was the best way. In other cases it's simply quicker.
