Continuing our journey:
When I reached the base of the incline I noticed that the beginning of the spur I had been hiking showed signs of having been altered during its use. Here's a photo of the beginning of the spur looking southwest towards the base of the incline:
I am standing on the right of way which is curving around to the northwest, but to the left of me appears to be another grade. Here's the same photo with a little enhancement to help:
Here's the view after I hiked the final few feet up to the base of the incline and looked back down the spur:
Here's the same photo enhanced to show the two tracks:
The yellow line in the upper right is the incline.
The yellow line curving to the left appears to connect to the spur on the north side of the ridge that I hiked previously. The line curving into where I'm standing appears to connect directly into the base of the incline.
Doing a little more exploring, I came to the conclusion that an additional spur connected these two lines. Here's an enhanced photo showing how this was accomplished:
For whatever reason, the MSP had re-arranged the trackage heading into the main spur at the bottom of the incline, or they had two different tracks connected to it. I'll include a map in my later posts. This is the most complex track plan I've seen at any incline site.
To be continued...
