The latest issue of the Rio Grande Modeling & Historical Society's Prospector magazine includes an article I wrote on the D&RGW/Koppers tie plant at Salida and an article written by Dylan Hutson who was the fireman on the Rotary OY run. The Salida tie plant produced all the railroad ties and bridge timbers for the railroad and telephone poles for the Mountain States Phone Company. The plant closed in 1960, the 2-foot gauge Porter engine from the plant is on display in Salida at the museum.
