Hmm.. Interesting. I have a copy of Bob Shock's testimony. Bob was running 494 behind the 483. He stated he saw the curve kicking out ahead of 483. He turned to yell at his fireman "Hang on! We're going on the ground!" At that point there was a big bang and impact. When Bob looked ahead again, 483 was gone. No mention of Bill climbing out the window.

One thing you never did back then was put the finger on a fellow union man. Bob's testimony was very blameless, stating they were making about 15 mph, and everything appeared to be normal until he say the curve kick out ahead of 483.
