All 3 classes of English Electric had the tube cowcatchers or "pilots" as you call 'em(down here the pilot was the guy who let you in/out of the yard, or in loco, another ED guiding you learning the road).

The NZR had a change of heart and doubled the 2nd order with half-pint Units in '55 with the D
G at 750HP, 26,000lbs TE. A-1-A A-1-A. Some were classed as D
H and had higher 29,000lbs TE. 60mph
