I’ve always liked that image as well and (I’m just recalling from memory here), wasn’t it part of a 1929 survey of the Platte Canyon done by the Denver Water Board?
Those photos weren’t the normal Victorian or Edwardian era construction or tourist shots, nor the plentiful Depression era when the line was getting run down, but discovered by some of the great railfan photogs. The twenties seem an era less-photographed, with the railway in what I’d call its “late prime”.
PS. Love your great story Jim. If only all financial transactions could end so well.
Cheers,
Ralph
