I missed the Lavalee p.70 photo on my earlier image sweep. The express boxcar on the Caribou is in fact one of these reefer types! (with your additional shot of no. 325, we're up to 4 photos of this reefer class.) Note the hinged double doors, rather than boxcar-sliding-single-door, and the open reefer hatches. Note also, it appears that the upper few wood slats have been removed, presumably for additional ventilation. Looks like a summertime configuration to mitigate overheating the express freight. I wonder if the outside bracing makes a temporary modification like this more feasible. Maybe it is easier/more-repeatable to reinstall siding slats to the attachment-holes of a metal frame in contrast to a wood frame.
