Narrow Gauge Cabeese - or "Cabin Cars" in Newfoundland Rly parlance. It seems in this era some of them had quite large passenger compartments, and the first two were likely passenger stock that had been downgraded. They also started to acquire cupolas, and the last two appear to have been custom built for the purpose. All this is conjecture and anyone who would have a stock list or history of the cars, it would be great to hear from you.
Until then, these are just the photos as I found them. Enjoy
Cheers,
Ralph
PS - As a fifth photo, I added the apparent Cabin Car that I photographed at Trinity on our 1982 trip. I couldn’t find it in my most recent copy of the Canadian Trackside Guide - the definitive reference to preserved railway equipment in Canada - so I must assume it was eventually scrapped.
