Exactly! And the third "story" is of course the storyteller and what I can ascertain about who they are and what they trying to tell me and perhaps why. The stories of working on the narrow gauge from those worked there as relayed by Jerry and others are valuable to me because I have good reason to believe that behind them is real experience of something which interests me and about which I want to know more. Dates and places as told by the original teller may not be accurate but I have other ways to get at that. And never having met Jerry I still have a read on his veracity by what he publishes and which has appeared here, so even stories he relates that others told carry weight.
So I want it all! The stories of varying content and the storytellers and the discussions about them. Because all of it is evidence of what really happened which is the thing to which I can relate and which interests me. It is my responsibility to do my best to sort it.
And if I tell stories about life on the D&RGW, everyone should take it with a large dose of salt......
