They were either built by the Grande or outsourced. By the mid 50's most of the K-37's had a cast steel beam pilot. 491, 496, 499 never did get one and 492 didn't get one until the 60's. 496 was scrapped in 1955 and 499 had a wood beam pilot plow which was installed in 1942. Outside of those the rest had the steel pilot beams.
