For example, old U.S. 30 across Nebraska closely parallels the Union Pacific mainline most of the way. (Sadly, U.S. 30 is mostly buried under I-80 across Wyoming). The scenery isn't as spectacular as the Rocky Mountains, but most of it is quite pleasant and there are numerous small towns for coffee, food and rest breaks. See [
