I had the privilege of standing next to Matthew at McEwen depot SVR last October 2018 as the dawn broke and the sun rose, whilst we photted their two loco's at the water tower. Was it a bit chilly, well everyone else was inside drinking coffee and trying to keep warm. It then struck me as to Matthews endless enthusiasm for his subject matter and skill in capturing it.
Fast forward to this November in North Wales and I must confess I had looked forward to meeting Michael and the " gang" again, oh they didn't let me down. Consummate skill in their photography, numerous requests politely requested by them, and wonderful company too boot, what more could a charter organiser ask for.
So with some trepidation we are going to do it all again next November, and those early starts are duly noted guys, plus more slate trains to ride around in and photograph. Just imagine a cabless Fairlie in November , in Snowdonia , you betcha.I know it's not C&T or D&S, however it doesn't come with those price tags either.
