Two major issues
(1) Age of folks that have the cash to attend these types of events makes this harder than shooting off the road to Cumbers
(2) Tons of walking for all participants which would be likely 10-20 car lengths, including passing the two trains, and walking ahead for the runby. Thats going to take a ton of time to accomplish, and means less chances, and tired people.
(honorable mention). (3) what do you do at the end of the day, backtrack to Antonito? Then deadhead out again on the second day? Being remote I see issues if something happens back in the boondocks regions of the railroad.
Sounds good in theory though, and in the old days OY ran from Alamosa heading west.
One thing I think would be cool from a historic standpoint is to have the OY lettered for Rio Grande. It hasn't been done since the 60's when the D&RGW ran it. Just sayin!!!
With a bum knee I am not able to participate either way!!! But I am thankful I got to see it 3 different years!!!
