Thank you Ray for posting the photo of the freight at the Bocea hairpin curve, and the reference to La Plata Junction. I assume that you have been at the junction … I am wondering if there is any evidence left at the site, since the 3.75 mile spur was abandoned in 1906. And thank you John West and Russ for your wonderful photos. I am still hoping to be able to get at least to the hairpin turn before it is obliterated by urban sprawl. And BTW, does anyone know of photos of Falfa siding - another rarely if ever photographed siding that saw frequent use in later years for separating eastbound helpers returning to Durango and westbound helpers from Gato (of course westbound helpers would not need to enter the siding when running ahead of the train). BTW the point labelled Falfa on the below map is not the location of Falfa siding.
