More stories.. Mid seventies, My 12 year old son and I explored the Tunnel area. I crawled into the west "portal".through a small opening. Dropped into a foot of water. My camera was a Rolleicord, no flash. Had a small 2 cell flashlight. Went in about 100' It was downright spooky.but interior was all there and moldy.I could not wait to get out of there.
If the USFS would open up the portal for visitors it would be one heck of a tour.
