I visited a museum in Grand Junction, Colorado, today that had several Uintah boxcars, a stock car, bunk car and caboose. They all had air connections between cars that had an upright pipe from the brakeline about 3 feet above the coupler attached to the hoses. While this seems easier for brakemen to make the connection, I had never seen this before. It would seem that this would limit their cars to only intra-line service and not compatible with other lines. Were there other railroads who had a similar approach?
