The SR&RL parlor car Rangeley is indeed a gem, and I think the WW&F is delighted to be hosting it.

While the car is not in a totally unmodified state (the plumbing has been messed with and the trucks are probably replacements, plus the exterior was repainted at least once at Edaville), the interior fabric is substantially original and is a sight to behold.

The car is usually off-limits except by permission of Maine NG RR Museum director Wesley Heinz. However, at the WW&F Annual Picnic in August 2019 it was opened to visitors, which was a rare treat.

We had some wet weather that weekend, so the carpet was covered in plastic for protection.

The woodwork is all mahogany and the seats have their original mohair upholstery. Note also the large beveled glass mirror, behind which is the lavatory.

Here is one of the hinges on the lavatory door. Note the original scribe marks for the hinge mortise, plus the crinkly texture of the finish. This is original Jackson & Sharp craftsmanship from 1901.
