At its heart, the WW&F is actually a
museum, not a train yard.
The Sheepscot campus has multiple structures and exhibits (some
mobile), spread over a fairly large "campus", rather than a single museum building. In that sense, it is similar to the Shedd Aquarium in Chicago IL, which is also part of a "campus" including the Shedd Aquarium, Field Museum and Adler Planetarium. See the link to the "campus" map:
