"Todays generation of youth is like no other..." or something like that as Socrates said in 323 BC or thereabouts. Doubt he was talking about railfans though.
OTOH I've been rereading (again) Trains mag from the beginning (on dvd-rom, 1940-2010) and the complaints abut this kind of behavior go all the way back to at least the late 1940's. Sometimes it's in an editorial others it's in a letter in the RPO section but it shows up every year or two. People driving unsafely, being rude to other fans, etc, etc. Oh, people on excursions violating every safety rule in the book too.
I wouldn't hold my breath waiting for it to end!
