It couldn't be summer of 1968, as the coaling tower had already been torn down to make room for the loop. Ditto the water tower.

I'll second that motion!!
If it's the same day, then the last photo shows the first section leaving – after which you boarded the second section. It couldn't be the second section, as either you were already gone on the first, or you probably would have been left behind when the second very likely didn't stop to pick you up after you took the photo
