I too have tried to move / copy an "[attachment ###]" reference from one post to another, and have never gotten it to work.  I think there is a hidden link in the database that ties each attachment to the page on which it is originally posted, as any time I've tried to use copied [attachment ###] code it has failed.

Either:  Post a link to the post on which the image appears (e.g. "See fifth and sixth photos on [ngdiscussion.net].")
=OR=:  Save a copy of the image itself to your own computer, and then "attach" your copy of the original into your new post.
