This summer while riding the D&S I noticed two auxiliary tenders. At least one, from 470, appears to be in-service and used on work trains. The second, the tender from 469, appears to out of service as its sitting on yard tracks in Silverton and looking rather rough. I'm curious about their history and of the locomotives that each was originally paired. I did a little research but didn't find much. Surely someone on this forum can share more details.
Locomotive 470 was scrapped in Seattle in 1945 after being used on WP&YR. Since the tender survived did it end up on the Sumpter Valley and then eventually migrated back down to Colorado?
Locomotive 469 doesn't appear on any D&RGW roster that I've found. Anyone know the story on this tender?
