Hello All,
This season at the Georgetown Loop RR has been quite exciting with the return to service of 2-8-0 #40.
While not entirely ready to handle a completely sold out nine car train by herself (she will get there), it has been proven on several occasions that she can indeed start the long train without assistance, as can be enjoyed at the very beginning of this video from YouTube.
The day that this was filmed I was #40's fireman, and we had a heavy rainstorm hit us during the second trip of the day, making starting the heavy train very difficult without assistance, so diesel #130 acted as helper on the westbound (uphill) trips and took the train eastbound (downhill) for the first part of the day, with #40 following light to Devil's Gate Station.
Regards,
Shane
