Thanks for posting the examples of the caps. Being from a PRR family I recognized the view from the G Motor as soon as I saw it, good stuff.
You're right about slight regional differences in railroad clothing. New England has a variation of the Kromer Cap.
The top material is the typical striped cloth but the band and visor are made of solid denim material. One reason this was done
was to better hide the dirt that would get on the front of the bill when the cap was adjusted or removed with a greasy glove. Many Northeastern
enginemen and brakies have the two-tone hats, that's what Bill is wearing in the photo. I will get a photo of my cap and post it.
