Dick, thanks for posting your gorgeous photos. Just to complete the story, I am adding a few chasing shots from August 3rd. My plan had been to do a long hike-in excursion in the Phantom Curve area, but the nearly constant booms of approaching lightning storms made that seem like not so great an idea.
Just a few miles out of Antonito, 315 was coming at a good speed, easily outpacing a dust-generating vehicle that was happily left far behind on the bumpy road
Between Big Horn and Sublette, flowering rabbit brush added color to the scenery
This is always a challenging location due to vehicles parking or arriving just at train time. I managed to use a strategic tree to hide a white pick up, and several other vehicles stopped just shy of the scene at the last second
Getting Osier was a challenge, as a heavy thunder shower has turned the road into the gluey mess that the Osier road is famous for, but luckily I did manage to avoid a slide into the ditch
