The original foundation rigging on 464 looked pretty much like Kelly's greasy side up photo. it was a was a worn out finger pinching mess that never made the same application twice. somewhere around 2010 we replaced it with a standard foundation rigging and replaced the oddball CI shoes with low friction comp. made a world of difference and it stopped on a dime, and the lighter shoes made changing them a comparative walk in the park. My understanding was the monkey motion was to clear the eccentrics from it's days as a Stephenson geared soak.
