It is sad to think that the SWFI's logging railroad almost became a tourist RR in the 1960's.
There are lots of unknowns about SWFI/Saginaw & Manistee's railroad south of Flagstaff. In later days (1950') it appears that two trains headed south out of Flagstaff. One powered by 2-8-0 #2 (originally #25) and another by mallet #12. On the return trip they combined their trains at the Newman Park Wye and double headed north into Flagstaff (like in Marty's pic) The pics of this operation seem to suggest there was another line off the tail of the wye. It looks like the wye extends for a distance across the park, then stops.
It would be great if there was listing of logging camps and re-loads out in the woods.
Thanks, Dave. Two of my retirement projects are exploring the remains of the Southwest Lumber's lines osuth of Flagstaff as well as the line to Maverick, Arizona's last logging railroad.
