NNG - CAR/SWFI logging grade exploration

On Saturday July 13 I headed up north to escape the heat and spend some time exploring a logging line south of Flagstaff with my oldest daughter. This particular grade started out as the Central Arizona Railroad and changed ownership a couple of times with Southwest Forest Industries being the last. To access this grade we entered from Kelly Canyon road south of Flagstaff off of I-17 with the intent to travel the length of the grade over to Lake Mary Road.
The linked map below provides some photos from the first part of the trip. This trip will be the grade on the left side of the map. The grade on the right side of the map is from an earlier trip in 2015. Clicking on any of the yellow squares will bring up a photo at that location. I'm not done linking photos in yet but this is a good start for today.

There is the occasional piece of metal that can be found but for the most part it is rock roadbeds and ties that remain.
