Smoke Density Lights - Oil Firing

August 01, 2019 03:24PM
Here is a Smoke Density Light, which you don’t see much anymore….and on a narrow gauge locomotive at Six Flags Over Texas. Steele Craver added these in the 70s. I believe they were step lights on a Katy diesel, but are the same casting used from their steam days. Of course, this is just one type of light casting used among the various oil burning lines. They were handy to fire by while working hard through the trees at night.
