The volunteers working on Southern Pacific 4-6-2 2479 in San Jose have been busy making the locomotive presentable for the upcoming fair. One of the items they created was a new 3-D printed plastic headlight (something like 40 pieces total). I have never heard of this being done before and was thinking it would be a great way to replace some of the missing items on 483, without using the historic, original parts. I sent an email to the group to find out how they accomplished this (I'm assuming they dismantled and replicated it piece-by-piece), and for some idea of the cost. I know a lot of display locomotives that could benefit from plastic headlights, whistles, etc...
