Gentlemen,
My name is Dave Queener and I am a model-maker residing in Knoxville, Tennessee. Most of the modeling I do is in 1:20.3 scale ("F" scale as the NMRA designates it) and in standard gauge, but I am wandering into narrow gauge presently, with a couple of specific freight car truck projects in mind.
I want to work up SolidWorks 3D CAD drawings of several narrow gauge, cast steel freight car trucks, with an eye to making white metal copies in Fn3. What I lack are prototype drawings of any of these trucks, save one variety of EBT Vulcan sideframe. I am hoping some of you may have prototype drawings of an Andrews or a Bettendorf narrow gauge truck which you could share with me, or at least point me towards a source.
To the best of my knowledge, these are all the cast steel trucks that rode narrow gauge rails in North America:
(1) Bettendorf T-section truck under the RGS "Miller" boxcars
(2) Bettendorf U-section truck under D&RGW Gramps tank cars with frames and 6500 series flats
(3) 4'-8" Andrews trucks used under some D&RGW frameless tank cars and long reefers (may or may not be the same truck)
(4) EBT Vulcan trucks in several wheelbases
(5) A-3 Ride Control style truck used under USATC 190 class 2-8-2 tenders, and White Pass 70 class tenders. Not sure if these were used on any other equipment.
At any rate, if you have any prototype materials you could share, it would be a great help; and if there are any additions to my list, I would appreciate being corrected.
Warmly,
Dave Queener
