The spur was about 1/4 mile in length. Walking up the spur:
There were several fallen trees to climb over.
At one point was a nice carpet of flowers:

This was the site of a 1930 logging camp.
There were numerous mosquitoes here, which limited my time to look around (haven't found many mosquitoes at all in the MSP country).
There was no centralized trash dump. but there were scattered cans and bottles around the area:

After battling mosquitoes for about 15 minutes (and dropping my sunglasses and taking an additional 10 minutes to find) I headed back down the spur to the mainline.
