This photo shows 480 taking on some really cold water in Chama on January 31, 1964. The hostlers were preparing 480 and 488 for the first of two Cumbres turns that day. Earlier that morning the hostlers had serviced 492 and 493 for a run to Durango. The overflow is just a matter of timing. That big fill pipe can flood the tender deck in the blink of an eye.
